Woo! Compootor!

I have now placed the order for my compootor. Rather than wait another few weeks to accumulate £500, I’ve just gone with the specs from the first blog post, although with a more powerful 8800GTS. According to current lead times, it will be here within 15 working days, which equals to around three weeks, but it’ll most probably be much less due to the fact they always overestimate. :p

I’ve also got my car fixed and it now works perfectly. All I’ve got to do now is await for the roadworks to go away. :p

Ooh, even better?

I might now be getting this instead of the specs below. I can waste the TFT monitor for now, as that’ll save me £100.

Reet then, down to this Computer business.

I’m extremely close to becoming permanent, and with that I can use a credit card to finance my new computer. Here’s my current configuration, especially tailored to my needs. (and credit limit)

  • Processor: INTEL Core 2 Duo E6400 (2 X 2.13GHz) 1066MHz FSB/2MB L2 Cache
  • RAM: 2048 MB CORSAIR DDR2 667MHz
  • Motherboard: ASUS P5N-E SLI: Quad-core CPU Ready, NVIDIA Dual X8 SLI
  • OS: WINDOWS VISTA Home Premium (although this’ll become Ultimate over time. :p)
  • USB: 6 x USB 2.0 PORTS
  • HDD: 160GB SERIAL ATA II HARD DRIVE (May downgrade this as I already have a HDD or three to move)
  • Disk Drive: 18x DVD+RW/RAM + Lightscribe (But I’ll get rid of this, as I’ll use my current Sony one – It’s better)
  • Graphics Card: 320MB GEFORCE 8800GTS PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT (One away from the most powerful DX10 card!)
  • Power Supply: 700W Quiet Quad Rail PSU
  • Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio 7.1 (Eventually with a few more speakers)

Altogether, including VAT and Delivery, it comes to ye grand ole price of £918. I can pay £300 straight away, leaving £600.

A whole month of Work

So, I’ve been at work for a whole month now, and It’s going great. They’ve announced we’ll all be going permanent in the next few weeks, and the money is really coming in at £170ish a week. I’ve been randomly buying everything! But I’m really saving my money for the new computer I’m really needing, now that my current one is officially obsolete, in it’s single core, under 800mb RAM, FX5200 Graphics card ways.

My day now goes like this:

  • Get up
  • Get ready
  • Go on irc for half an hour
  • Spend half an hour getting to work (four miles away through traffic)
  • Work from nine to half ten for break
  • Then work til 1PM for lunch
  • Then work til 3PM for another break
  • Work til 5PM when I come home
  • Unwind and write silly blog posts in list format.

As opposed to before:

  • Sleep til 3PM
  • Computer til 3AM

An improvement, no? I spend weekends driving around North West Wales.
